During the day I’m a mild-mannered dentist, but in the evening and on weekends I transform into DORKDADDY! This is one dad’s blog about trying to raise THREE well adjusted kids, while at the same time passing on a love of all things geek. I don’t pretend to have any special knowledge, super powers, or advice for anyone else out there. Like all other dads I’m taking it one day at a time. This blog is just an opportunity for me to scratch my inner English major (about the only way I get to use my liberal arts undergraduate education these days).

May The Force be with you.

Dare I think that, somewhere in the darkest recesses of your fertile brain, I may have once planted a little seed of literacy? :>

    Dr. Sam-

This is one of the funniest and wondeful things I have ever read. So very well done for a science-guy. Thanks for sharing!

Wow John. I’m touched. That was one of the nicest bits of feedback I’ve had.

Hi dorkdaddy! I was recently nominated by a fellow blogger for the Reality Blog Award. I’m still new to blogging, so wasn’t quite sure what this was about, or how others feel about these types of nominations. But one of the parameters of the award is that I need to nominate blog authors whom I think deserve recognition and praise. You are certainly one of those authors. I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog, and have nominated you. You can check it out here: http://undeaddad.com/2013/01/10/the-reality-blog-award/

CJ, you’re very kind. This is the 5th or 6th of these that have come my way. Ultimately they aren’t about much, other than the fact that someone out there actually reads your blog, which is reward enough. You nomination hasn’t gone unnoticed, and your praise means more to me than the nomination itself.

I enjoyed reading your latest post “It’s Just Sex…”. And I know what I’ll be doing the next few days – reading all your previous posts. πŸ™‚

Hi there, I am sure you are not in need of blog awards, but I have regardless nominated you for one (details on my home page if you wish), as I’ve been enjoying reading your posts.

    • dorkdad February 14, 2013 at 11:53 am #

That is very, very kind. I had to stop running with these a while ago, but that doesn’t mean I don’t genuinely appreciate them when someone sends ’em my way.

You’re welcome! Look forward to reading more from you.

Just found out about this blog. And I love it. Sir keep up the awesome job you doing. Since fatherhood does not come with manuals. There is always a great deal of issues going on, but you set up an excellent example to keep on trying to be a better dad. Kudos to you sir.

When I alerted FB that we were showing our kids Star Wars, the question asked over and over was, “In which order?”

Original release order, obviously. Any arguments for chronological order discount the art of storytelling, the annoyance factors of “Ani” and “Jar-jar”, and the power of the original trilogy.

I’ve got a nice bunch of books I’m stockpiling (Pratchett, Gaiman, Tolkien, Atwood, Collins, HP: 4-7, etc.) until they’re ready for them, and counting the days until I can show them Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Nice to find another parent who gets it πŸ˜‰
